Team visit to The Grown Up Chocolate Company
Some very lucky team members recently spent a day in chocolate heaven; The Grown Up Chocolate Company’s factory in Harlow, Essex.
The team were treated to a tour by the company’s owner, James Ecclestone who explained that his aim was to use quality ingredients to produce a range of artisan confectionery for adults. We agree that their handmade bars are deliciously decadent and reminiscent of those you ate as a child, only much, MUCH better!
James revealed the history of the company and the team learnt about the journey of the brand as well as their packaging which we love here at the farm. The recyclable boxes (which feature humorous images and fun messages) are sourced locally to the factory to reduce carbon emissions then the packaging process is carried out on site.
James also shared some interesting facts: the shell of the building in Harlow was not suitable for the production of the chocolate and so a temperature controlled factory was built within the walls of existing building to ensure the correct humidity could be achieved.
Understandably the highlight of the day was tasting chocolate literally hot off the press! Still warm, the chocolate was beyond delicious. Thank you to James and the team at The Grown Up Chocolate Company for a fantastic day!
